Overview

Camp 4 in Yosemite Valley is one of the most famous campgrounds in the world, hallowed ground in the history of rock climbing. From the 1950s and '60s, it was the gritty, communal base for the pioneering 'Golden Age' climbers who developed the bold techniques and big-wall routes on Yosemite's granite cliffs like El Capitan and Half Dome, transforming the sport forever.

A walk-in, tent-only campground beneath the soaring valley walls, Camp 4 retains its rough, social, dirtbag-climber character and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places for its role in climbing history.
