Willis Tower Skydeck
Chicago's landmark skyscraper observation deck with glass 'Ledge' boxes hanging over the city.
Overview
The Skydeck of the Willis Tower (long known as the Sears Tower) is one of the most famous observation decks in the United States, perched on the 103rd floor of Chicago's tallest building, 412 meters above the city. Completed in 1973, the tower was the tallest building in the world for nearly 25 years and remains an icon of Chicago and of American skyscraper engineering, with its distinctive bundled-tube design of nine connected towers.
The Skydeck's signature attraction is 'The Ledge' — a series of glass boxes that extend out from the building, letting visitors step onto transparent floors and walls and look straight down at the streets far below. On clear days the view stretches across Lake Michigan and into four neighboring states, making the Skydeck a thrilling and unforgettable vantage point over the Windy City.
